Emergency Bed Youth Advocate at YSS

The Youth Advocate will supervise, provide support and establish rapport with the nine Youth Opportunity Center Emergency Bed participants during assigned hours, while providing an atmosphere of safety and mutual respect.  Emergency Bed participants will be young adults 18-22 who are experiencing homelessness. Youth Advocates will work to ensure all basic needs of the participants are met, and that they are provided with a safe, stable environment in which to work towards stability. Duties will include checking meal preparation, youth into the facility, providing emergency needs for youth such as bedding, food and hygiene, and monitoring the facility during the overnight hours as needed. Supervisor - 2-1-1 Call Center at United Way

Since 2-1-1 has moved back under UWCI’s operations and leadership nearly two years ago, we have set goals for the program to become more integrated and strategic in our work and to build more community awareness of the services it provides. This position will report to the Director and replaces the upcoming Information and Referral Specialist vacancy in 2-1-1. This is a “working” supervisor role, answering the phones alongside the Information and Referral Specialists while supporting them and performing other operational tasks for the call center. As many of you already know, we offer a wide range of free offerings to help those in our community locate, apply for, and secure a great career. Topics range from resumes to social media to conflict resolution and pretty much everything in between. Participants can earn a number of certificates from our workshops also, which look GREAT on a resume. Pre-registration is not necessary either, except for the National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) exam. We also host a monthly career fair/employer panel that I strongly recommend job seekers attend to make sure they are getting themselves in front of the decision makers of the hiring process. Hard to beat free interviews!
