Iowa State Bank - Community Reinvestment Home Loan Program

Loans to applicants in this Program will not be limited by income caps inside Iowa State Bank's community delineated Low- to Moderate - Income (LMI) area, as identified by the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Department of H.U.D. Applicants seeking loans outside of the identified LMI census tracts in out community delineation will be considered if their income is 80% or less of the median income.

There is no minimum loan amount for home purchase or home improvment loans. The maximum loan amount within this program is $150,000.

Iowa Jump$tart | Improving Financial Literacy for Iowans

Nonprofit organization comprised of over 30 individuals and organizations representing business, government, and education who have joined together to improve the personal financial literacy of all Iowans.  We are an affiliate of the national “Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy”.  The national Jump$tart website is www.jumpstart.org

Program Goals:

  • Help you save for a car*, home, business, or education.
  • Help you to learn about:
    • money in the United States;
    • practicing good savings habits and,
    • how banks and credit union can help you.

*Program allows for:

  • First vehicle purchase, or;
  • second vehicle purchase, but ONLY if multiple adults in the family are working or attending post-secondary education/vocational training.

Who is eligible?

  • You can participate in this program if you:
    • arrived in the US with refugee status
    • have been in the US for less than 5 years (if saving for a car, less than 3 years)
    • have income (a job)
    • are at or below 200% poverty

To sign up for this program, you will need:

  • A valid ID
  • I-94 Form or Green Card
  • Proof of income ( one month of pay stubs for every working member of your family)

Neighborhood Finance Corporation (NFC)

Project Reinvest: Homeownership * Project Reinvest Polk County is scheduled to begin mid-June 2017. Keep your eyes on this program! :)

NFC is administering the Project Reinvest Homeownership program in Polk County. Project Reinvest: Homeownership is a Down Payment Assistance program. The program provides $10,500 in down payment assistance for eligible homebuyers who are purchasing a home within Polk County.

In order to be eligible for Project Reinvest: Homeownership down payment assistance, the homebuyer(s) must meet the following requirements:

  • Borrower(s)'s income, adjusted for household size, should not exceed 100% of the Area Median Income.
  • Complete an eight (8) hour Homebuyer Education Course in the last 12 months
  • Purchase a home within the target market
  • Agree to maintain the home as a primary owner occupant residence
  • Obtain a first mortgage loan from an approved Project Reinvest: Homeownership
