AmeriCorps Application Period Extended
Special competition for planning grants or for program grants in state or national priority areas has been re-opened
Des Moines, Iowa – Volunteer Iowa is pleased to announce a second round of applications will be accepted for a special AmeriCorps competition, focusing on AmeriCorps programs that would operate in either state or national priority areas. The state priority areas are summer service or afterschool programming, the expansion of existing AmeriCorps program models, or evidence-based and evidence-informed planning grants. Planning grants help organizations develop a program model and full application for an AmeriCorps program addressing any community need. The national priority areas are prescription drug and opioid abuse, child welfare, and infrastructure.
The application process begins with a brief pre-application due May 15. Volunteer Iowa staff will then provide applicants with feedback and help them with the next phase of the application process. Interested organizations may participate in atechnical assistance webinar on April 9 at 9:00 am. This is the last opportunity to apply for AmeriCorps State funding for 2018, so new applicants are strongly encouraged. [Read more]
4Rkids Early Childgood Iowa
The 4 R Kids ECI Area Board plans to allocate funds for Early Childhood Services in FY2019. Contingent upon receipt of Early Childhood Iowa Funding, the 4 R Kids ECI Area Board is announcing the Request for Proposal for FY2019 with the option to renew for two additional contract years. The total amount of funding available may be approximately $900,000 for FY2019. Read more HERE>

Chrysalis Foundation
Rapid Response Grants are available to nonprofit organizations year-round, funding up to $500 for unforeseen, immediate, or time-sensitive needs of nonprofit organizations. Priority will be given to needs that identify measurable results and are most likely to ensure success.

Community Foundation grant applications for Leadership Grants and Capacity Building Grants are available for completion through an online web portal called Manage My Grants. Des Moines Plymouth Congregational Church
The Des Moines Plymouth Congregational Church conducts two special offerings grants each year. One is at Christmas and the other Easter. The purpose of these grants is to support metro area non-profit organizations that enhance the lives of our neighbors in need.
This year Plymouth is seeking grant applications from non-profit organizations with projects that include one of the following goals: (1) ease racism, (2) relieve the burden of excessive incarceration, (3) support immigration, and (4) seek to help those affected by mental illness.

Edna McConnell Clark Foundation
Youth Development Fund helps grantees build the infrastructure and evidence they need to expand and help economically disadvantaged youth, ages 9-24, get an education, find a good job, and avoid teen parenthood and crime.
Blue Meridian Partners, a collaboration of 10 philanthropic institutions and individuals incubated at EMCF, plans to invest at least $1 billion in scaling high-performing nonprofits poised to have a national impact on children and young people, ages 0-30.

Iowa Walking College
The Iowa Walking College is a six-month educational program, where fellows explore ways to improve walkability around the state through online and face-to-face interaction. Applications will be accepted until March 1, 2018. Learn more HERE
Latinos Unidos of Iowa
Latinos Unidos is a non-profit organization with the main focus of uniting Latino communities across Iowa. Lena Avila Robison is the founder and president with a passion for making a difference in the Latino community in Iowa. It is very important to her that youth gain the confidence to continue their education. Latinos Unidos is able to do this through the scholarships they offer.
The scholarships go toward Latino/Latina students in Iowa who plan on attending any Iowa public or private college. Currently, they have students who go to Iowa State, University of Northern Iowa, Drake University, and many others. The scholarships are given to encourage continuing education within Latin-Iowans.

Milagro Foundation
Supports underrepresented, underserved and under supported children around the world in the areas of the education and health. Funding will occur three times/year. In the winter funding cycle, Milagro will concentrate on Health grants. In the fall, funding will focus on Education grants. Learn more here.
