Safe at Home by Secretary of State
Safe at Home (SAH) is an address confidentiality program. This program helps survivors improve their lives with the following services:
Substitute address
Mail Forwarding Service
Confidential Voter Registration
If you are a survivor of domestic violence, sexual assault, trackfficking, stalking, or violent crimes, SAH may be the right fit for you. Your address is or will be unknown to your abuser or offender. Contact an advocate program or the Secretary of State's office for more information:

**SAH is not a witness protection program, capable of shielding you from legal obligations, such as custody disputes or able to hide your address from real estate records, such as the purchase of a home or office space. However, renters' addresses will be protected.
The Crisis Observation Center has moved to Broadlawns Hospital
The Crisis Observation Center has moved from the Central Iowa Homeless Shelter to Broadlawns Hospital, 1801 Hickman, Des Moines.

If someone in your family is having mental health difficulties - the Crisis Observation Center is open 24/7, 365 days/year.
A person can be assessed, triaged, and the appropriate level of treatment determined. A person can enter on their own, be transported by another family member or friend, brought by the mobile crisis team, or by law enforcement. The Crisis Observation Center is staffed by nurses and mental health professionals.
